Overview:
Andromeda Iris Constellation is one of the last remaining pieces from my Eye Constellations series, created in 2012. The series was inspired by the uncanny resemblance between celestial formations—like the Helix Nebula, also known as the Eye of God—and the human iris. This connection led me to wonder: what if each constellation had its own iris?
Built from recycled materials, paint, and layered textures, each painting in the series explores that question through color, form, and symbolism. At the center of every piece lies the constellation it represents—merging cosmic mystery with personal vision.
About This Piece:
This piece draws inspiration from the Andromeda constellation and the myth of the princess immortalized in the stars. Rather than a bright or ethereal palette, Andromeda Iris Constellation embodies depth and mystery. The canvas is enveloped in dark bluish-green hues with subtle silver linework coursing throughout, reminiscent of distant galaxies or ancient star maps.
At its center, the Andromeda constellation radiates outward in a soft greenish-yellow glow, surrounded by delicate hints of rainbow iridescence that catch the light and draw the eye inward. Textural elements—like embedded feathers and geometric forms—add tactile dimension and a sense of celestial structure, echoing both nature’s symmetry and the logic of the cosmos.
The overall composition feels grounded yet expansive, feminine yet strong—like the myth of Andromeda herself, who represents both sacrifice and cosmic transformation.
Artist’s Note:
This painting is a tribute to the elegance of deep space and the mythology woven into our skies. Andromeda Iris Constellation invites you to look inward and upward—reminding us that beauty, mystery, and meaning live both in the stars and within ourselves.
